In an age of fake news, it’s important to have solid researchers and fact-checkers on your team. That’s why DME is thankful for people like Nohely Diaz, an intern with the Fact Checking team in the Research Department. In this intern spotlight, Nohely describes some of what she does and why she would recommend this internship to others.

What kind of contributions do you make to the DME team and their goals?
I research the cards that have been created for Veterans, verifying that the information that has been written up about them is factual and is reliable. In addition to this, I have also spent time locating additional resources for Veterans, adding to a document where they have been compiled thus far.
How does your work at DME help you reach your professional goals?
My work has helped me refine my research skills and gain more experience locating sources. This, in turn, has helped me reach my professional goals since much of the work I would like to do is built around making sure that any research being done is accurate.
Why would you recommend DME to others?
I would recommend DME to others who are looking to gain experience using and learning skills that are sought after, such as writing in different capacities. I also recommend DME for people interested in working for the government due to the type of exposure one can have through DME.
