Alishahal Macknojia is a rising senior at the University of Houston majoring in Finance. Last summer, he had the opportunity to be a Private Equity intern at Search Fund Accelerator. Currently, he is a Fact-Checking/”Researcher” Intern at the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs. In his free time, he enjoys TableTop games, ESports, and Hiking.
I originally became interested in the field of Finance when my father taught me about how the stock market functions and his own personal investments. What really sparked my interest and lead me to pursue Finance was when I had heard about the concept(s) of private equity, search funds, and socially responsible investing. When I was admitted to the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, I joined the Finance Association which allowed me to network with like-minded individuals. Recently I have plans to interview and join Bauer Capital Group which is a student-lead investment fund.
Through that experience I was available to intern at Search Fund Accelerator, based in Boston, MA. Previously I was an assistant store manager and a insurance representative which taught me the work ethic necessary to succeed in this industry. I originally applied to VSFS with the intent of expressing my curiosity about foreign policy and public service. I’m excited to join the VA’s DME team so that I am able to demonstrate my interest in public service, policy, and veteran affairs.
