Charles Amsler

Born in 1913 in Bridgeport Illinois, Amsler was 29 years old when he was drafted to fight in World War II. He joined the 182nd Medical Group Battalion as a Staff Sergeant.

Amsler traveled to England, France, and Belgium with his battalion, going on to treat injured soldiers at the Battle of the Bulge.

Amsler developed bone cancer as a result of a severe knee injury he sustained at the Battle of the Bulge. His leg was amputated in 1947.

After the war, Amsler worked for Sears and Roebuck for 40 years until retiring in 1975. He passed away in 2006.
